Charity Shop Assistant helps run a charity shop by serving customers, processing donations (sorting, pricing), managing the till, keeping the shop tidy and attractive, and supporting the Shop Manager,
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service: Greet customers, assist with finding items, provide information about the charity, and promote initiatives point cards.
Donation Processing: Receive, sort, price, tag, and prepare donated goods for the shop floor.
Merchandising: Arrange stock attractively, create eye-catching window displays, and restock shelves to maximize sales.
Till Operations: Handle cash and card transactions, operate the till system, cashing up, and securing takings.
Shop Maintenance: Keep the shop premises, keeping displays clean, tidy, and well-organized.
Volunteer Support: Assist in recruiting, training, supervising, and motivating the new volunteers.
Operational Duties: Open/close the shop, and ensure health & safety standards are met.
Essential Skills & Qualities
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good organizational, time management, and attention to detail.
- Honesty and reliability (especially with cash handling).
- Flexibility and willingness to learn.
- Typical Environment
- Working under a Shop Manager or Assistant Manager.
