Charity Shop Assistant helps run a charity shop by serving customers, processing donations (sorting, pricing), managing the till, keeping the shop tidy and attractive, and supporting the Shop Manager,

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service: Greet customers, assist with finding items, provide information about the charity, and promote initiatives point cards.
Donation Processing: Receive, sort, price, tag, and prepare donated goods for the shop floor.
Merchandising: Arrange stock attractively, create eye-catching window displays, and restock shelves to maximize sales.
Till Operations: Handle cash and card transactions, operate the till system, cashing up, and securing takings.
Shop Maintenance: Keep the shop premises, keeping displays clean, tidy, and well-organized.
Volunteer Support: Assist in recruiting, training, supervising, and motivating the new volunteers.
Operational Duties: Open/close the shop, and ensure health & safety standards are met.

Essential Skills & Qualities

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Good organizational, time management, and attention to detail.
• Honesty and reliability (especially with cash handling).
• Flexibility and willingness to learn.
• Typical Environment
• Working under a Shop Manager or Assistant Manager.
• Supporting the charity’s mission and fundraising goals.
• May involve working shifts, including weekends.

A small animal worker work at our rescue center, tasks like feeding, cleaning, grooming, health checks, exercise, and with roles including Animal Care Assistant, requiring patience, compassion, and physical stamina.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Animal Care Assistant/Worker: Focuses on daily welfare, cleaning, feeding, exercising, grooming, basic health monitoring, and assisting visitors/staff.

Work Environment:

• Conditions: Can be physically demanding, involve working outdoors in all weather, and often requires shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. 

Skills & Qualities:

• Genuine love and patience for animals.
• Gentleness, confidence, and strong handling skills.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Resilience and ability to handle emotionally challenging situations. 

• Animal Care Worker/Technician: Manages daily tasks like cleaning, feeding, grooming, and exercising animals in various settings (rescue and farm). 

• Husbandry: Preparing specialized diets, cleaning/maintaining enclosures, and ensuring proper housing.
• Client/Public Interaction: Educating owners and the public on proper exotic animal care, nutrition, and behavior.
• Handling: Safely restraining and handling delicate or potentially dangerous animals.
• Record Keeping: Documenting patient health, treatments, and managing supplies. 

• Animal Sanctuaries

• Deep understanding of species-specific anatomy, behavior, nutrition, and diseases.
• Adaptability and focus, as exotics often hide illness.
• Strong communication for client education.
• Knowledge of conservation efforts (for zoo/wildlife roles).
